Contact us if you're interested in starting, planting, maintaining or harvesting the garden! LEGISLATORS NEED TO HEAR FROM YOU! >>PLEASE SHARE WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS<< Our important bills to increase police accountability and address policing issues are very, very close to crossing the finish line! THIS IS CRUNCH TIME! CLICK HERE to send a message to the House/Senate conference committee. THE OTHER SIDE IS MAKING NOISE that now is not the time for police accountability--even though nothing has changed that would stop another police killing from happening. Background Our police accountability bills have been rolled into the House omnibus bill, HF 1078. However, the Senate omnibus bill, SF 970, does not contain any of our provisions. Because the bills differ, they are being heard in a House/Senate conference committee. It is IMPERATIVE the final omnibus bill include our provisions. The House/Senate conference committee meets all this week. The members of that committee MUST HEAR FROM YOU. CLICK HERE to tell the members of the conference committee to pass the House version HF 1078 with no changes. Our bills included in House omnibus bill:
Governor Walz has assured us that he will sign the bill if it contains our provisions. See his press conference on our bills here. PLEASE TAKE THIS ACTION RIGHT AWAY to ensure these essential changes becomes law. Please join us in welcoming Steven Szathmary and Ben Capp to the Heritage Park Neighborhood! Ben and Steve will be working in the Heritage Park Community Garden as our new Urban Farmers.
Ben is a passionate gardener, cook, artist, and creator. He is very excited to get to know the heritage park neighborhood and share his love of growing food with anyone who wants to get involved. Steve is an energetic people person who loves being outside and getting his hands dirty in the garden. He's spent the past year and a half urban farming on the Northside and can't wait to get to know and grow food with folks from Heritage Park. Ben & Steve are excited to engage with the community, build a garden together, and network with the neighborhood and other North Minneapolis organizations for harvesting. Help us get ready for the 2021 growing season! We're cleaning and prepping the Heritage Park Community Garden Friday, May 7th! Stop by and meet the new urban farmers Ben and Steve!!

Thank you to our partners at Green Garden Bakery, Urban Strategies in Heritage Park, Cora McCorvey Health & Wellness Center and Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board. Derek Chauvin was found guilty on all 3 counts! The first time an officer has been convicted for murdering an African American in Minnesota! This is a relief for our community; a sign of progress, but the work isn’t over. No unarmed citizen should EVER lose their life at the hands of Law Enforcement. May George Floyd Rest In Peace! I pray this verdict helps his family and friends heal.
The light rail has a route coming through North Minneapolis. And You get a say in where!

Monday, April 26th 7pm-8pm Zoom Link: https://umn-private.zoom.us/j/97175296544?pwd=aE95bUdPOHFGc2Vyek9vaEpwaHVhdz09 Meeting ID: 971 7529 6544 Passcode: W7Pv99 Our hearts are absolutely broken. This should never EVER happen! The murder of Daunte Wright by former Brooklyn Center police officer, Kim Potter, has brought Minnesota, and the nation to yet another state of mourning. We express our condolences to the family of Daunte Wright, and to those who loved him.
We recognize the collective trauma this brings to the Heritage Park Community. To live in a world where racial aggression threatens your life, and the lives of those you know and love, is a violation of our most basic human needs for safety and belonging. May peace fall into the hearts of all who are grieving, exhausted and hurting right now. We can all play a role standing in solidarity with the black community. That often means slowing down, making time to listen and taking action, no matter how small. HPNA remains committed to working with and for our neighbors on promoting positive changes today and into the future. Together we can make a difference! Support Daunte Wright’s family and show solidarity with anti-racism protestors RSVP on Facebook
